Board of Directors
Marisol Ramirez is the Director of Programs for Orange County Communities Organized for Responsible Development (OCCORD). The organization's mission is to build the power of historically marginalized communities in Orange County through community organizing and establishing policy research to strategize and build leadership for an inclusive economy, community-driven education, and responsive democracy.
She was raised in West Anaheim and has established roots in North Orange County. At age thirty-one, she has over fifteen years of community organizing experience. In 2015 she became one of the founding members of the Anaheim Democratic Club and has served as Recording Secretary, Vice President, and President. Marisol was named “The People’s Organizer” by the OC Weekly in 2016 after her campaign experience led to winning two city measures that expanded the city council seat representation and established district elections that led to a domino effect in North Orange county cities. In 2017, she served her home City of Anaheim as former Councilman Dr. Jose F. Moreno’s Senior Policy Aide. In March 2020, Marisol was elected by working-class families in the 67th Assembly District to serve a four-year term as a Central Committee member for the Democratic Party of Orange County.
Marisol is a firm advocate for building bargaining power for marginalized and disenfranchised communities. Her involvement in her community began at a micro level and has expanded at a macro level because she believes leadership development occurs by having a seat at the table of many tables to have a multi-lens approach to building healthy and thriving communities. All the while continuing to share knowledge and skill sharing to develop communities to partake in spaces and impact change.
